We invited Seeh Ming & Ruisong to share their love story with us and they did! It is a really meaningful project to help our couples preserve their memories and share their thoughts. Every story is special to us and thank you for allowing us to share and be part of this important moment in your life!
1. How the both of you met?
Ruisong: We met during University in 2008 and we are an item only in 2009. We were in the same clique in class and we went for lunch and visited different places in the same group during school hours. There was no spark and nothing was going on until one special day when I was opening durians for one of my lecturer from New Zealand. She did not stay for the durian activity but was on her way to meet her parents. She was dressed-up and not wearing spectacles; I was mesmerised by her that day.
At the start, she didn’t like me as I was noisy and talkative. To make things worst I sat in the front row of the class and blocked people including Seeh Ming of her view and she found me to be irritating.
As we are in the same clique during class, I started talking to her more and I tried to reach out to her, slowly but gradually via facebook and msn then by sms. Once, I plucked up my courage and asked her out for dinner and movie and she agreed! Gradually, I asked her out for dinner and went on movie dates, after 11 dates, we got closer. I then popped the question for her to be my girlfriend. I did not get an answer immediately but I know she was touched. It was only after a few hours later when she decided to be my girlfriend!
Since then on we were pretty much inseparable, working on projects together, having dinner almost any other day, exercising together and we have been continuously supporting each other for the past 6 years.
2. How was the proposal like?
Ruisong: My proposal was carried out on Jeju Island, Korea. I proposed on sunrise peak, Seongsan Ichulbong which was one of the UNESCO sites. I did not have many props, just nature and the good view as my arsenal. I knelt down, pulled out some wild flowers I got the way up and proposed on the peak where not much people were around. Fortunately, the timing was good because if I proposed 5 minutes later, there will be heaps of China tourists scaling the hill and the mood would have been lost.
3. Why you chose the theme/style/color?
Seeh Ming: Both of us love vintage style and toys e.g. Transformers, Monchhichi, legos etc. We were unsure on how to bring these two elements together but we were really happy to have the Rosette team to help us. They managed to bring all of our favourite elements together and to create a vintage whimsical theme for our wedding. I have chosen mint, peach, coral and white because these are my favourite colour combination.
4. Which was the best part of your:
a. wedding day
Ruisong & Seeh Ming: The best part of wedding day was the relaxed style and easy-going feel of the wedding on the day. We did not feel stressed up like it was a performance for our friends and relatives. We were glad that we were still able to have plenty of time to mingle with our guests. It was indeed a dream wedding for the both of us.
Ruisong: The best part of the decor I would say is the backdrop with photos made with wooden pallets. It was indeed very well done and all of our guests love it as a photo taking backdrop.
Seeh Ming: I love the décor for the gazebo lawn as well, especially the lovely rosettes and the heart shapes draping on the chairs
5. Any other special story relating to the wedding or engagement?
Seeh Ming: My mother was hospitalised for two months due to a serious stroke accompanied with many complications since Sep 2014. She was in coma and the doctor once told us that she would not be able to gain back her consciousness. It was not easy for the both of us mentally and physically during this period as we were still planning for the wedding, visiting and taking care of my mother at the same time, hoping that my mother would be able to witness this important moment of us. We were thankful that we managed to ride through this tough period and we have our mother with us to celebrate this joyful moment, all the way from Malaysia even though she was still on wheelchair. =)
6. Any wedding planning tips or wedding advice?
The wedding planning tip is to plan ahead of time and to discuss with your other half so as to agree on the major issues such as budget, location, theme, style, guest lists and etc.
