Real Wedding: Jasmine & Lionel

We have come to know many brides over the years and hardly seen one that is truly committed to her dream of fairy tale wedding. Jasmine is bold and proud about being a Princess Bride. That’s why we love Jasmine’s theme of Fairy Tale wedding with lovely carriage icon and array of sweet indulgence. Pink and pearl is the ultimate symbol of femininity, so who can resist it?

Here’s the collage of her wedding:

Inspiration from Wedding Decor in Jakarta

Recently I watched this interview from Axioo TV about choosing the right decorator for your wedding. The host interviewed Johan from Lotus Decor, one of the most sought after wedding decorator in Jakarta, aside from Nefi Decor and Suryanto and many more. It also showed the “typical” wedding decor in Jakarta. When I said typical, it doesn’t mean the decor is ugly, without effort or below average. Instead, the typical wedding decor in Jakarta is over-the-top, lush, beautiful and a huge production setup. To transform a huge ballroom that can sit 1,000 pax into a garden with tall trees, are common. Furnitures, table consoles, cupboards are part of decoration. Drapping the wall with your color theme is not even an option, it is a norm. Sky is the limit when it comes to decorating one hall, because budget might not be a problem for the bride & groom since most of the time both families or parents pay for the event. It is 2 families’ big event after all.

Here are some of the decor by Lotus Design

I’m still at awe every time I attend a wedding in Jakarta. The effort and dedication to every single details is impeccable. Of course, it is subject to personal taste, but I’m judging solely by amount of work and items that was used. It’s so inspiring to see the public high awareness for fine decoration and the creativity of fellow designers. One of my inspiration is works by Sally (Tea Rose Wedding), she’s very talented and have quirky taste for unusual props and very detailed decor. We went to the same high school in Jakarta and started working on this line at approximately the same time. Here are some of her wonderful works:

While the wedding industry in Singapore has yet to embrace beautiful decoration fully, the trend is here to stay as more and more couples aim to personalize and yearn for beautiful wedding of their own. I believe God has a plan for me in Singapore and it’s my calling to share the talent He gave me my love for decor & design.

Here are the beautiful images to inspire you!

That’s true when they say, “Be A Queen for A Day” on your wedding day! Here’s works by Annie Leibovitz, one of my favorite photographer, and her interpretation of the Disney’s princesses.

She Says: Cheerful & Graphic-Inspired Wedding in the Garden

Who says Singapore doesn’t have a nice place for outdoor weddings? This super cool couple, Steven & Sharn, chose the perfect place for their cosy nuptial. Marmalade Pantry@the Stables is a perfect hangout for weekend brunch & after-hour drinks as it is quiet, breezy and offer a perfect escape from the bustling city. Which is the reason why it fits the couple’s characteristic of a casual & cosy wedding.

This is the first time I met a bride sporting purple hair, together with the mother and the mother-in-law. All in different shade of purple. I’d say: Coolio!

The wedding band, The Sam Willows, cools the evening with their perfectly-sounding harmony. Winston and I enjoyed them so much, that if we could have a chance of getting married again, we would have asked them to sing in our wedding!

Here are some of the pics. For more pictures, please see it here in our Facebook page

Indoor area for dining is cosy and nice. Really love the black and white whimsical touch on the ribbon, it’s the groom’s favorite colors. I always love the graphic contrast of black and white, never fails to stand out!

She Says: Introducing Savannah Grace Lim

After much heartache and suffering, we finally experienced the joy of parenthood. Thanks to many that prayed for us, our baby has gone home with us and growing well. It marks a new beginning for us as new parents and catapult us to the realm of dirty diapers, sleep deprivation and stereo-crying. Aside from that we enjoy having our baby very much.

Of course, being a preemie, she’s not as settled as a full term baby. Her petite demure figure can be deceiving, she’s a fiery ball. Supposedly born on 18 Sept 2012, she came out 7 weeks earlier, in 33 weeks to be exact. She was predicted as Virgo, yet she is born a Leo, fierce and driven. Plus the fact that she is a dragon lady.

When I was pregnant, 5 of my relatives, including my sister-in-law, was also pregnant at the same period. Savannah beats all of them to be the big sister, yet she is the smallest of all. Born at 1.128 kg, she climbed a long way to be at her current weight at 4.7kg

Since both of us are easy-going people, we hoped to have an easy baby. Who knows this bundle of joy came with a dramatic personality. I always know that my offspring will be as driven and strong as me. True enough, she’s such a fighter.

So without further ado, we introduce to you our precious baby Savannah Grace Lim!

ImageA little background on her name, Savannah Grace..

Savannah is a beautiful city in Georgia, US which is home to one of the best art school in US, SCAD. I received the scholarship to further my study in Masters of Broadcast Design & Motion Graphic. However that was the time I just started my career in MTV and about to get married that year. After praying and asking God for direction, I decided to let go of the scholarship and continue with the wedding plan. I kept that name ‘Savannah’ close to my heart, hoping to name my daughter, Savannah.

and I did..

The middle name ‘Grace’ was added when during my 20 week scan, the doctor said that her nasal bone is too short, which has the possibility of Down Syndrome. I prayed hard that it was misdiagnosed and added Grace to this unborn baby as she needed it the most.

Thus Savannah Grace was born.

The Joy of Pregnancy.. While It Last

My last post of our joyful occasion was in May and we were thrilled about the  pregnancy. We are expecting!

I was so determined to make my pregnancy experience as wonderful, stylish and happy as can be. Having decided not to be too auntie and motherly, I bought stylish maternity clothes from ASOS.

We even went to Railay Bay, Krabi for our Baby Moon and had a blast!

Life as a pregnant designer has never been easy. Especially during this busy period. I have deadlines to fulfil, weddings to design and style and LED jobs for a big concert. Many nights spent doing overtime in the office, yet I still felt energised even as the pregnancy progress..

But all those things are going to be changed soon… sooner than I can imagined…

Diary & Design Wedding recently did a few weddings for our Indonesian couples in Medan. As you might already know from my previous post, wedding in Indonesian culture holds a significant value for both families. It’s a family affair, literally. Most of the guests will come from both sides of the family. So don’t be surprised if the number of guests invited can be up to four digit.

The wedding is fairly dominated by red color, which symbolize good luck and happiness. When you coupled it with neutral color like white and gold, it stands out better. When you choose a strong color such as red, purple, make sure the venue has similar or at least not a clashing color. Examine your venue before you decide on the color scheme!

We love how the carpet enhanced our color theme even more. But the wall didn’t go well with the theme so we decided to make it disappear! Draping is a good way to eliminate unsuitable wall. But might not be the cheapest alternative, though.

She says: Up Wedding – Lynette & James

I love themed wedding, especially one that was inspired by movie. This wedding is uber-gorgeous and cute. I covered their pre-wedding shoot here, that was based on the Pixar movie: UP! Their wedding topped their sweet pre-wedding shoot.

Because of the popularity of their pre wedding shoot, the producer and writer of Up got word of it and they love the shoot. Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera (writer and producer of the movie UP!) sent Lynnette and James a customized hand drawing based on them and a little note about how much they loved their engagement photos. Wedding Chicks was responsible for this rad gesture.

Wedding blog is a powerful tool to get your work out there!

Enuff said, enjoy the whimsical and magical wedding pictures here. What a lovely wedding! via Wedding Chicks

Love the customized cake topper! They even have the miniature of the bunting!

Since the wedding is based on the movie Up, they also used the idea of picnic, soda pop and balloon. The guests sat down under a colorful mat during the ceremony. Although it might not happened in Singapore, but this idea is really cool for a laid back and intimate wedding

They also displayed the props from their pre-wedding shoot. The miniature house they build for this!

She says: Sneak Peek of Outdoor Wedding

We are still thinking of how to display our actual day photos. We had 2 official photographers and dozens of unofficial ones. The latter part has made their way to my facebook account and help me broadcast to all our contacts.

Our outdoor wedding is a treat for photographer with lots of beautiful details and thoughtful arrangement. I designed it that way and it came to pass nicely with the help of  our helpers and vendors.

Meanwhile here is the sneak peek preview from Ian Photography:

More pictures to come!
