He says: Thank You (Part 2) – Alvinadeline Videography

Our very Capable Videographers!

To me, a very important aspect of the wedding banquet or service are the videos shown. Through the couples’ creativity, we can find funny MTVs or life stories or even appreciation videos from friends all around. However, these videos can all be done way in advance. The wedding videographer that has to do the same-day-edits (SDEs) for the morning highlights in time for the evening banquet is the one with the really tough job. After watching the numerous wedding videos in preparation for our wedding and Hollywood movies for my own entertainment, camera shots and angles have become something quite fascinating to me. I am not going to research and be an expert in this, but I marvel when the videographer are able to capture that right moment that brings out the best of the couple in motion.

Recently our videographers, Alvinadeline updated their blog regularly again. Juggling between moving to their new office, shooting all the weddings and preparing themselves for the peak period of weddings coming at the end of 2010, I think it will not hurt to give them further endorsement of how well they have handled our weddings. Credit to Hellen of course for decorating and designing the wedding with the photographs and videos in mind.

Personally, I want to thank Adeline for being really nice in introducing their videos to us and ensuring us that they will be able to do a good job. Alvin and the assistant was real friendly and reassuring during the actual shooting, and it’s quite amazing how the 2-man team was able to produce the wonderful video with just 2 guys. A very sincere ‘thank-you’ to the wonderful team! After the wedding, several friends enquired about the possibility of engaging them as well, giving further testimonies that the video produced was well-received.

Dear readers, if you have time, check out their portfolio to see some of the amazing work they have done!

Special mentions to… our wedding!

And a rather unique pre-wedding video based on Alice in Wonderland…

I have always been a fan of their SDE, so I will highly recommend them for any weddings!

One last note, when we were collecting our final DVDs from Adeline, we got more chance to talk to her and listen to her as she told us how she juggled her full-time job and part-time videography work in the past. This is so similar to Hellen, who has a full-time job, a part-time business as a wedding designer and being a full-time wife to boot! I guess chasing the dream will always require sacrifices, so if you think you are cut out for a dream big and unusual, step out and grab it!

She said: Involving Your Gang (for photo shoot)

Pre-wedding photoshoot usually just involving the couple and the supporting team of make-up artist, etc. But this new photos from Ian Photography shows you how you can involving your closest friends. Make them feel like they belongs to your love story. I personally think having mutual friends is a good way to strengthen relationship. This couple brought 14 of their friends! What a supportive gang!

Ian, as usual, has pushed his boundaries again. Kudos to the very creative couple, Ian + Irene. (I think Ian have received enough credit, so I want to extend my praise to Irene, the concept artist behind this photoshoot).

She says: Behind the Scene

I realize, I put a lot of nice, beautiful pictures of my wedding, but not the unsightly pictures (wth??!). So when all the pictures finally arrived, I decided to share some of the not-so-glams, but it’s still memorable.

By the way, no decoration involved….

The Haggling Session begins..

It was a guaranteed fun session with the cheeky and creative bridesmaids and jie meis.

Heart Breaking Moments Caught on Camera

My mom couldn't hold her tears anymore when I whispered, "This song is for you" while Serene sang "Mother How Are You Today". It was her favorite song. Priceless.

My mother is not the emo type. She is one of the most independent women I’ve met in my life. She detests crying in public, so she always avoid sensitive topics. But this moment caught her off-guard.

Thank you, Wansheng for your good instinct. That’s why we hired him.

We had our little "sister-conflict" and was resolved as soon as usual.

Drama!! Where's the ribbon???Just use this one!

No wedding is perfect without the drama behind it.

FUNNY – CANDID – MOMENTS

2 Generations of Lie Sunaryo

this is a good contrast...

Wow.. so many good pictures! I will slowly post by their category..

She says: Honeymoon Route

We were so excited for our honeymoon in Europe on September, until we received news that our tour is canceled! Although they will give us a full refund, I am still upset that we couldn’t go to the designated places we have planned! That’s the downside of choosing a tour for honeymoon, instead of free and easy. Initially we were lazy to plan our own itinerary, but looks like we are forced to do  it. Suddenly we have unlimited options of places to go. I always love the idea of honeymoon in old cities in Europe, bed and breakfast in Edinburgh, lavender field in Provence, Mont St-Michel in Normandy. So I guess we’ll stick to Europe.

I love this dreamy picture of Luxembourg, feels like the scene from 18th century. via Axioo

Depending on your personality and preference, here are different destination for honeymooners (pictures by Axioo)

Urban Couple can visit New York, Paris, London, Tokyo.

This was shot in New York by Axioo, and the guy in the picture is my ex-housemates’ brother.

The beachy couple often choose Maldives, Bali, Hawaii. One more place to consider is Raja Ampat, Irian Jaya in Indonesia. Voted as the best diving site in the world, these islands secretly owned the most preserved coral reef in the world. Although this place is located in Indonesia, most of the visitor are foreigners.

I would love to visit urban city and historical places like in Barcelona, where Gaudi build his Gothic masterpiece…

Or kissing in Versailles…

Or clowning around under cherry blossom in Japan.

No matter where we go for honeymoon, as long as we are together, it’s enough…

She says: The Finishing Touch

Finally, the final sets of AD pictures have arrived at our doors. Ian Photography always put aesthetic value above others and his pictures are always beautiful and beautifying. I love it. Simply love his depth of field and graphical composition.

She says: Busy Bumble Bee

It has been a month since my wedding! Yet, the wedding bug haven’t left me. In fact it worsened (in a good way). As you have known, we launched Diary & Design Wedding on Monday, and we already confirmed our first couple! Wow, things have been moving faster than we thought.

Now only left 2 chances to get free design consultation for Chapter 2.

I am currently busy with my work in MTV on the biggest show of the year, WORLD STAGE LIVE in MALAYSIA kicks in end of July. I did LED graphics for Katy Perry and Wonder Girls! I love Katy Perry’s song.. it’s so catchy.. but with all due respect.. I’m no fan of the Wonder Girls..^_^*peace*

Anyway, business aside, I just met a lovely lady who wanted to rent my props for photoshoots. Nowadays pre-wedding photoshoot has many direction other than the bridal photshoot. More and more couple opt for personalized, customized photoshoot than the one-for-all photoshoot. Your creativity is only limited by your imagination. You can choose theme that suits your personality, your hobbies, habits or even place where you grew up.

Here’s a perfect example of creativity is the limits. Katryn and Ari had been together for 8 years. Katryn is my bestest friend cum partner in Pemberley. We knew each other for 11 years and have been best friend through thick and thin. She is also the best Maid of Honor you can ask for. I will surely dedicate a post for her alone. Her Maid of Honor Speech was super hilarious and so meaningful that she made me cried so much! Well.. too much spoiler.. just wait for the next post about Maid of Honor.

Here’s one of their many pre-wedding pictures shot by Ian Photography, that was shot in Katryn’s house and her family-owned wood manufacturer. She grew up here and now she is continuing her family legacy. By the way, Ari is my childhood friend from kindergarten to high school. Both me and Ari are like siblings that when we joked and teased each other, it shocked people. I think we will never graduate from high school.

Everytime I go back to Jakarta, her place is a must-visit place. She literally live inside her wood factory. It is so cool to own a wood factory. One time I had a bad swollen toe and had to fly to Jakarta for a wedding, she handed me a wooden crutch she just made in an hour before fetching me to the venue!

They are getting married gorgeously this August. If you think I’m bridezilla, wait till this couple reveal their wedding details. It will blow you away! She has one of the best taste I ever known. Being an OCD (Obsessive Complusive Disorder) give her an upper arm when it comes in details. I will talk about her wedding also!

She says: Introducing Diary & Design: A Wedding Story

After the success of our wedding, we received a lot of compliments and requests regarding wedding planning and design. It has always been my secret desire to cultivate my love for wedding design to a concrete plan. So, when Lily, my wedding coordinator asked to meet up to talk about the possibility to partner, I couldn’t feel more happy! This is the moment I’m waiting for!

It feels so right and so natural for us to plan & design wedding. I am always championing a life of passion and purpose. There is a purpose of why we are wired this way. Why we are born with certain tendency or talents. Some people are naturally drawn to numbers, sports, music, biology, or some cool ones, like design *haha*. I happened to be born with a love for art and design. I was an aesthetically-inclined child with tons of imagination. My mom can testified to that. She had to repaint the wall many times because of my constant sketching.

So now I know why I love and is able to do art and design, so one day I could help many brides to have a beautiful, memorable and stress-free wedding. Man, that was some revelation!

Anyway, enough of childhood flashback, now the future is in front of us. We are officially launching Diary & Design: A Wedding Story today!

Diary & Design Wedding combines the individual strength of a well-designed and well-organized wedding. You get the best of both worlds. Neither design or coordination becomes secondary. Both are given the same priority and full attention. This partnership provides assurance that all of your design and coordination needs are covered, so that you can relax and enjoy your big day.

We already drafted the services and packages to suit your preferences. We even have the Design-It-Yourself packages to help you materialize the ideas you are dying to impose but have no idea how to!  *Gosh, I wish I had that privilege when I planned mine*

UPDATE:

coverss

This post was written about 3 years ago, when everything is still in the infancy level. Now the ladies of Diary & Design Wedding are more mature and experienced, not to mention big thinker. So DDW is undergoing restructuring process and will be officially branch out into 2 companies, which each specialized in different area, wedding planning and wedding design. We have yet to officially announced it, but being a design junkie it is a no-brainer for me to head the new baby, Rosette Designs & Co, which specialized in event design & decor. Please check out our portfolio in our facebook page, while we work on our website.

No matter what is the company I am belong to, my love for design & decor is always prevails.

She says: Wedding Banquet Pictures!!

Finally the wait is over!! Wansheng from Feldberyl has delivered the rest of the pictures and it’s all gorgeous! He might be one of our most expensive vendors we engaged, but it is worth every penny. All the while we posted our outdoor wedding, because we have lotsa photos from our friends, but during our banquet, the guests enjoyed the programs so much they didn’t bother to take pictures.

I have to admit that I treated my outdoor wedding more like a pilot project of my long term plan. However, the wedding banquet is a treat for ourselves. I enjoyed our banquet more than the day before. We both really loved our banquet. So did our guests. The feedback was tremendous. We took care of every single details and thanks to our wonderful coordinator, Lily and our dear helpers everything was well executed.

Here are the photos! We will post on the detail of the programs on the next post.

She says: Photobooth Pictures

I am so pleased with our photobooth design. I designed the backdro. Although we are not happy with their way of treating my decoration when they transferred the structure to Conrad (they crushed my decoration!!), it looks great on camera.

Love the poses, especially baby Michela!

Read our process of creating this backdrop here, and my inspiration behind this photobooth wall here and here. This one is Winston’s inspiration.

Even my parents were spotted at the photobooth!

She says: Childhood + Couple Montage

Another montage that I did for the wedding banquet. We had 3 videos and 2 special items during our banquet dinner, which can be potentially chaotic and too overwhelming for our guests. But BIG kudos to Conrad staffs, the sophisticated assistant director Ms Catheryn Tan, and our superb banquet manager, David. They met with us on our event 3 days prior to it, and made substantial changes to our initial plan. They made our event silky smooth and the timing was fantastic.

Anyway, due to the nature of my job, I always pay extra attention to photo montages in weddings. Some are not so pleasant, while most of it are okay and bearable. With all due respect to all the couples here, I totally appreciate your effort to put together a decent photo montage with whatever software knowledge you have. Not that I can balance out Profit & Loss Statement myself or pass science paper every time. Each (wo)man to her own.. Point taken.

So this is my craft, not that fancy, but I love it :

The last part is clip of Winston singing at Timbre during our proposal.
