She says: Trend of 2010 – Alice in Wonderland

Early this year everybody was expecting the release of the creepy-talented Mr Burton’s movie, Alice in Wonderland. Since then the classic’s theme started springing everywhere, from books to cakes to merchandise to party. Wedding industry wasn’t spare from the hype. Alice-themed pre-wedding shoot became hot cakes and daring brides wants Wonderland theme for their wedding.

I met a bride who really like this idea, but she’s going to have her wedding next year. She’s contemplating whether the theme will be passé. I’d say if you really like it, go for it. Wedding should be what you like and not dictated by the season. Even though we are going to end the year, but the legacy of this flamboyant theme will live on.

Here are some of the pics from one of my favorite photographer Jessica Claire.

The props are from OC Prop Girl, a new prop house in California. Darn, I really love those vintage books and the frames. I’m so envious for the amount of resources the American or Oz have!! How I wish Singapore have one of those props house for styling. Or maybe I should start one, hmmm…

Now for something closer to home, it’s a video by the Axioo team and shoot by my ex-classmate, Paulus, who is also the brother of David (the founder).

I saluted the stylist who prepared the props! It’s freakin’ awesome!

Wonderland theme is also an engaging theme for wedding. I love a stylish and beautiful wedding, but I enjoy creative and daring wedding as much!

Talking about Alice in Wonderland means its dessert time! Lewis Carroll’s beloved story singlehandedly create the high tea craze!

Below is an impressive array of flower design. Check out the pics here.

Hope it inspires you! I’m looking forward for next year’s trend. Till then, ciao!

She says: English Classic Theme

We are featuring a wedding that we did recently. The couple, Andrew and Cindy, is fun-loving and cute together. They have an identical build, tall and slim and look good together. Cindy has a popular blog and online blogshop. Read what she thinks about her day here!

The couple engaged D&D for Chapter One (Design & Coordination) for their wedding in Tower Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel. Winston did his part in helping on the actual day coordination.

It was a success! We love how every single details blended together. The bride is really fond of the gold and cream in classic look. So we proposed the English Classic theme, which she loves so much.

Most of the time the grander the ballroom, the more elaborate the decoration should be in order to maximize the impact. However, the theme that the couple chose, required a more delicate and intimate decor. We then focused our attention to the centerpiece, with lots of gold candles and handmade table number.

This is the quick snap of the wedding.

All in all, it was a classy wedding with nice moments. What I got to say is that the couple was extremely great to work with, with Andrew always providing the laughs and making sure everything is relaxed. The worst thing to have during a wedding is a panicky couple and they are definitely not like that.

So with this, we will like to congratulate Andrew and Cindy in their wonderful marriage, and hope this union will continue to be a blissful one!

She says: Season Greeting, Season of Love

I’m getting married again! I have been married for more than 5 times till date and will continue to host wedding parties for 2011. I’m kidding (in case you didn’t get my joke).

Since plunging into wedding design and planning industry, I feel like I am constantly getting married. I take every wedding as my own, except that I only do what I like, the design & decor! In Diary & Design Wedding, we work based on our strength. Lily being the more organized and expert in coordination is dealing with the administrative, while I’m having fun with the decor and set up!

Update: After almost three years of great synergy of design & planning, we decided to branch out to our own company focusing on our different strength. Please see our design works with Rosette Designs & Co

The last wedding that we did was really fun, we used green apples as the main elements. The wedding took place in Hort Park and it was a suitable fresh-rustic theme. I will blog about it with more pictures. The picture below is part of the decor which I created a “Fruit of the Holy Spirit” tag for each apple. There are 9 aspects of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the Bible. The couple is Christian and I thought it will be appropriate for them. They really loved it!

Simple thought makes a big difference

This is the decor board. The couple wants an eco-friendly and green wedding. We used bamboo, green apples, potted plants, topiary, baby breaths for the decor. The final look was amazing! We loved it and so did the guests and host. Stay tuned for the final look!

P.S.: Since it’s the wedding season, please forgive me if I haven’t write in a while now (actually, it’s more than ‘a’ while). I have so many things to write, but couldn’t finish and post it (proven by how many Drafts post I have). I wanted to post about Intro to Wedding Decor, Eating Too Many Sashimi (it’s an allegory, by the way) and many more. Next year’s resolution is to post more DIY stuff!
