She says: small Idea, BIG Impact – Table Number

I am so blessed that I could do what I love as part of my work. Details and creative ideas always thrill me. Especially implementing that idea for your client. I am currently in the midst of preparing table number design for one of our clients. This sweet and candid couple love candles and tall centerpiece. This elements will be the prominent items in their wedding. I am planning to customize a unique table number that match the mood.

By the way, I am a wedding designer under the umbrella of Diary & Design Wedding, for your info..

With the guidance of my guru, Martha Stewart, I embarked on my quest of candle table number. I will post the result when it’s done.

I did my share in creating my own table number.

Table number for one of our client. It has the similar graphic for menu and reception card

In case you are flabbergasted on the idea of buying 25-30 photo frames, you can simply rent it here!

Meanwhile, here are some samples of table number design that can inspire you! Be a creative bride and opt for well-designed table number, instead of your usual hotel-own-table-number.

She says: Stiamo andando in Italia *

* We are going to Italy!

While I’m still waiting for my revised visa (they printed my name as “Hellen Kie”), we have confirmed our tour to Italy-Swiss-Paris next month!

We have come a long way since we first booked our tour during the February Natas Fair. We want to get it early for the promo price. The route of our initial package seemed too good to be true. 12D of Swiss-Paris-London and additional free hotel stay at Dubai for 2 days. It is too good to be true. The tour didn’t materialize, the tour company merged with another tour company, leaving our tour in limbo. When we called them, they told us the tour is canceled. So much for booking early, huh..

In no time, we have to look for a replacement to another tour agency. We are glad we did, because the next tour that we booked (SA Tours) is much better in service quality and procedure. The review says that this tour has a good slow pace. So more time for sightseeing and shopping on our own. The route is also much better and more romantic.

Apparently London is not a favorite destination anymore. The new tour agent told us that London is passe. Now Italy is the new favorite destination. This time, they have no problem to confirm the tour. My advice to the honeymooners : Don’t book too early to avoid the cancellation (Winston’s edit: I think booking early is ok, just make sure you check constantly with the tour agency on the confirmation of the tour and confirm asap), or choose a very popular destination like Japan or Korea. Even better if you could plan your own itinerary and route and go lost together in the foreign land.

Unfortunately, we are not that adventurous. Winston went to London twice and Stockholm once, but this is my virgin trip to Europe. We have no idea whatsoever about cities in Italy and even Paris. So tour is safe and convenient for us (at least for now). *I’m in defending my choice of going honeymoon on a tour* Apparently this tour idea is less romantic for a honeymoon.

I will blog about our route in the next post. For now, I am eyeing on these controversial sticker. It’s a super cheeky luggage sticker that could land me in hot soup. But it’s still fun! I’ll buy the toy sticker for this trip.. haha

He says: Thank You (Part 1) – Serene Koong

Well, as I return to blogging here, I will like to dedicate my next few posts to the people who made our wedding possible. Some seems to think that the wedding is all about the couple, but forget to appreciate the people who dedicate their lives to making the dreams of couples come true.

The first person that I want to thank is someone that is already making waves in the Chinese Pop scene in Singapore, and she is Serene Koong (龔芝怡). She is one of the 3 musicians (along with Matthew and Boon Chye) that played during our banquet. The music (with the piano and saxophone) and the beautiful singing voice of Serene really enhances the evening, as compared to CDs. Several guests reflected to us on the soothing music and simply how awesome Serene’s voice is.

Prior to the wedding, we did not know about Serene, just that she was a backup singer for Stephanie Sun. So imagine my surprise when I saw her album being presented in newspaper articles! So even when we are in the midst of our wedding preparation, she was readying her album release!

Since she did such a good job for our wedding, here I will do my part to promote her CD: “55:38:7″

Check out her songs here:  http://www.myspace.com/serenekoong

.. and see more of her promotional stuff here: http://blog.omy.sg/serenekoong/#

She says: Up Wedding – Lynette & James

I love themed wedding, especially one that was inspired by movie. This wedding is uber-gorgeous and cute. I covered their pre-wedding shoot here, that was based on the Pixar movie: UP! Their wedding topped their sweet pre-wedding shoot.

Because of the popularity of their pre wedding shoot, the producer and writer of Up got word of it and they love the shoot. Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera (writer and producer of the movie UP!) sent Lynnette and James a customized hand drawing based on them and a little note about how much they loved their engagement photos. Wedding Chicks was responsible for this rad gesture.

Wedding blog is a powerful tool to get your work out there!

Enuff said, enjoy the whimsical and magical wedding pictures here. What a lovely wedding! via Wedding Chicks

Love the customized cake topper! They even have the miniature of the bunting!

Since the wedding is based on the movie Up, they also used the idea of picnic, soda pop and balloon. The guests sat down under a colorful mat during the ceremony. Although it might not happened in Singapore, but this idea is really cool for a laid back and intimate wedding

They also displayed the props from their pre-wedding shoot. The miniature house they build for this!

See more of their wedding picture from Wildflower Photography here.

She says: Intro to Wedding Design

I just ticked off one item from my to-do list: ” To blog about Wedding Design”. I managed to finish my introduction of Wedding Design in Diary & Design blog, click here to read the full post.

Although this term might be new to some of us, it’s not a new concept in the wedding world. Almost all wedding planner aim to execute this. As a wedding planner, you should also conceptualize the wedding. However, we want to champion this idea to the masses. Wedding needs design whether your budget is low or unlimited.

When the last time I met my wedding photographer, he said that in Singapore there are only full wedding planning or no planning at all. I assumed what he meant is, there are people who engaged wedding planner and people that don’t believe in wedding planner, and they try to do their own way of planning.

I believe that both way can still be nice and special. If you put your own mark and taste in it. Feel free to plan your own wedding, if you have the time and energy, you should! But leave some part to the professional.

An excerpt from my post :
It’s just like a house. An HDB flat (Singapore goverment flat ) can look the same from top floor to bottom floor. But what differentiate one house from the other is the interior design. If you just take a standard flat of HDB and don’t do any renovation or any kind of interior design, your house will look exactly the same like your neighbour. It’s called the Standard aka the template.

It is a growing trend among the young couple nowadays to renovate their new house to their liking. Design is becoming part of lifestyle and people are starting to show individual’s style. Sadly, wedding has taken a backseat in this area. But with the growing number of young couple’s interest in customized-themed wedding, I believe we can chance upon the trend of this industry. Ambitious as it may sounds, we will do it, one couple at a time.
