She says: Preparing for the Big Day

Ever since we started this blog, I received comments from fellow brides-to-be, saying that they are glad to see somebody else is also preparing intensively for her wedding. Some even said, it makes her feel less odd…

It gets me thinking, seems like it deems “odd” to go the extra mile for your wedding preparation. I often get a lot of amazed look from friends and vendors when I show them my wedding file.  I have never prepared wedding before (*duh), so I have no idea how others prepared their wedding. I guess, creating your own moodboard and researching for every single things, is not common and worse, you get labelled Bridezilla! I like this blog from an amazing lady who is not afraid to call herself Bridezilla, her blog is super-detailed and resourceful! Check it out here.

I am used to doing inspiration board, color palette, sketches because of my background. So it is expected of me. What is extra ordinary, is if you are an accountant and you do an inspiration board. You get a bravo from me!

So, dear readers, how would you prepare your wedding? If you don’t have the luxury of time, best if you can hire a wedding designer to do all of these for you!

*Maybe I should consider to be one…*

Here are some excerpt from my journal, and wedding folder. Winston bought me a gorgeous white wedding file from kikki.k, “My” series. Thank you dear!

He says: The Proposal – Performance

I decided it is time to ‘Just Do It’! I was invited by Pam & Fatt on stage, and here it all begins…

12 Pam Fatt and Me

After nerve-wrecking minutes, I was introduced on stage by Pam & Fatt for my 'Showtime'!

13 Is He Going to Make a Fool of Himself

Hellen is sitting down there with her best friend Kat.. waiting for me to make a fool of myself yet again...

14 My Speech

I gave my speech... I totally forgot what I said, but it must have been touching.. I guess..

15 Touched

I think she's touched, not by the outcome, but at least by the effort I think.

16 For the First Time

For the first time, when I look into your eyes..

17 Can You Feel the Love Tonight

Although mine is not the best singing voice, at the moment, it was the most heartfelt.

18 Love is.. For the First Time

... I tried my best to look the part and sound the part.

19 Kiss Me

We had our first dance, as Pam & Fatt sang 'Kiss Me'. Nice!

20 The First Dance

It was a wonderful moment... and I am glad we captured it.

21 Thank You!

It was a thank you... but note, I did not propose through the whole incident.. yet...

After this long-winded picture marathon, I have yet to say the words ‘Will you marry me?’ Cause she did not want me to propose in public.

All is not lost though, the night is not over yet, and I am going to propose in a way she did not expect. Stay tuned for the finale!

He says: Outdoor Wedding Layout in OMSQ

Another short post by me. We have engaged Outdoor Wedding Specialists (OWS) as our tentage and logistics provider of our outdoor wedding in OMSQ, Fort Canning. Their impressive portfolio gave us confidence in their ability. Here’s a layout pic of our simple outdoor garden wedding.

Thanks to Don and Eleanor for the enriching discussion! Hellen, especially, had lots of inspirations and ideas from the various blogs she went to. In essence, I was pleased that OWS dispelled the myth that Singapore are unable to do outdoor weddings and do not have the resources to do so.

On a side note, 20 more days till the pre-wedding photoshoot!… and I am still fat… gosh…

She says: Do-It-Myself Paper Rosette/Pinwheels Idea

I have done a lot of research on DIY projects for the decoration at the outdoor venue. One can easily be overwhelmed by the multitudes of ideas out there. Bringing in florist will be the prefect solution for an instant wedding feel. But I wanted more than just flowers. We also don’t have high budget for florist to turn this raw venue into paradise! So I have to think of alternatives other than the usual.

One of the decoration element that captured my eyes is pinwheels. Aside from the facts than I love paper products, I love the fun feeling it generates, the endless creative possibilities and the feasibility of producing it! I definitely going to couple this gorgeous idea with my doilies theme.

He says: Useful Documents for Weddings

After some hiatus due to busyness of life, I am back with a short post.. Hellen wanted me to just post some of the documents we used in the preparation of our wedding, which includes the budget sheet and guestlists. Here I am putting out the blank and de-sensitised version of the documents.

He says: The Proposal – Panic!

So the fateful day came, 31 Dec 2008. I have made all my preparation ready, all our friends are in town and in the know. It is time to execute the plan!

We all met up and proceeded to Timbre, Old School. Earlier in the day, me and Kevin went up to Timbre to place the flowers I bought for the occasion too. I got 99 roses and placed it in the Timbre fridge. It was huge (the flowers)…

[Tip for Proposal #1 - Big Flowers! It dazzles the mind, distracts the gal, makes the gal too guilty to say no... Big flowers FTW!]

Anyways, the day did not start well. When we were all gathered around Plaza Singapura, we went up. Being the cheapskate I was, I thought is was frugal to just walk up. Eh… the flight of stairs was ultra long, and frankly, it was quite a workout…

[Tip for Proposal #2 - Don't Be Stingy! How many times are you going to propose in your life??!! Hopefully, once. So spare no expenses, make it memorable. Money = Memories, for everything else, there's Mastercard..]

[Tip for Proposal #3 - Keep Fit! You never know when your body will be put to the test in a proposal. I did not realise the long flight of steps! Never good to say "*Pant pant*... will you... *wheezeee* marry *pant* me??]

When we got there, it wasn’t time for Pam & Fatt’s gig yet. So we ordered some drinks and food.

[Tip for Proposal #4 - Time Schedule! Make sure you are not too early for the proposal. If you take too long to reach the moment, suspicions and awkward silence sets in.. which in a sense of the word means.. it's awkward]

No more long and corny texts. I am going to post the pictures from the day and briefly mention what went on. This is going to be a long one…

So we are in Timbre waiting for the 'moment', and these are my childhood friends and their galfriends.

She says: Color Palette for Outdoor Event

We are in the midst of our outdoor setting preparation. It’s a real challange as I am not a trained wedding planner or a professional decorator. I just trust my eyes and taste to put up a great decoration. I will also depend on my great and talented friends to help me pull this off, along with my mentors in wedding blogs.

Yesterday I was blown away by this workshop. It is utterly gorgeous! French flare meets rusty Tiffany..reminds me of Alice in Wonderland..

Especially the paper rosette, since I am planning to make them. I love the color  scheme (similar to mine). So I decided to add coral color to the palette. Lovely!

She says: My Preference of Videography, Super 8mm Film

Winston has posted his preferred wedding videography here . So now is my turn!

I love the genuine vintage feel of Super 8mm video. This is not a video effect or some plug ins from After Effects. Although it is impossible to find wedding videographer that does Super 8 in Singapore, I believe some video art student or film art junkies will still have it. I once got hold of it during my study in art school.

Super 8mm was released in 1965 and till now is still surviving, though there is only 1 manufacturing company left in France who produce it.

Enjoy!

She says: Envelopes in the Making (Part 1)

I posted a tutorial of making envelope from doilies a few weeks ago here . Finally last week, a few of my close friends and I did the first mass production in my room. The girls (Clarissa, Irene, Imelda) are such a great help! Although we were not at our best because it was pretty late and we had cocktails in our house after dinner, we managed to do 25 envelopes. Thank you so much, girls!

Here are some of the pictures taken by Andrian. He’s practically my photojournalist.
